The risk factors for heart disease run high in the Arkansas Delta. When compared with the rest of the country, local prevalence for high blood pressure, diabetes, and obesity are excessive. As a result, Jefferson Regional determined long ago that cardiovascular health was a top priority. With a fully equipped cardiac catheterization lab and six cardiologists on the medical staff, Jefferson Regional has made a major investment in improving heart health in the community and across Southeast Arkansas.
Cardiac Services
Jefferson Regional’s compassionate and knowledgeable cardiologists have the best diagnostic tools available to them to carefully examine and diagnose patients. Cardiac diagnostic services include: nuclear stress testing, electrocardiography (EKG or ECG), angiography, Holter and event monitoring (to diagnose heart irregularities), cardiovascular ultrasound or echocardiography, and even transesophageal echocardiography.
When a problem is located, Jefferson Regional’s invasive cardiac services can often provide a quick solution. These services include: angioplasty, stent placement, peripheral angioplasty and/or stent placement, cardioversion, and pacemaker and defibrillator placement.
These services provide patients with comprehensive heart care from simple preventative treatment for high blood pressure, to stent placement when blockages are located, to emergency treatment for myocardial infarction or heart attack.
